Disabled ipad problem

iPad screen says Disabled connect to iTunes. However, iTunes on older laptop won't connect with iPad because it is locked with a passcode. Holding down home and lock buttons on iPad will only take me to an Apple Diagnostics window with the only option being an Exit button that circles back to the home screen indicated disabled. Help!! How do I erase and move on:
